Breaking the Cycle: A Young Social Work Associate on Working with Young Women
Meet Ixora, the youngest member of our casework team. She brings both enthusiasm and heart to support the young women who come to us, working tirelessly to ensure they have support, advocacy, and resources to help them overcome the challenges they are facing.
‘As an emerging social work associate who works with teens experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, I would like to take this opportunity on International Women’s Day to highlight the challenges teens and young mothers face and recognize their strength and resilience.
Teens and young mothers, regardless of obstacles, have the potential to succeed and thrive. As helping professionals, our role is to empower them to make informed decisions about their future and to assist them in acquiring the skills needed to provide their children with a safe and nurturing environment.
I am honoured to be part of a profession dedicated to social justice and promoting equality. I am eager to continue the work of so many inspiring women. As the youngest team member at Babes, I know I have big shoes to fill, but I’m ready.💪🏻
Together, let us empower teens and young mothers and create a society where every woman, regardless of her age, has access to the resources she needs to succeed. Happy International Women’s Day! 🫶🏻’
🎉 To celebrate women in this month of March #iwd2023, we will be featuring 10 inspiring women from our Babes community. In a photoshoot to capture the essence of courage and strength, #WomenofBabes are our volunteers, partners, and community members—women with different stories with different starting points. We #EmbraceEquity as we celebrate their resilience, kindness, and determination, incredible role models striving for a world where everyone has the same opportunities and rights, and where inclusivity and diversity are celebrated and embraced. 💪
